  • Better build quality that lasts longer, reducing how often you re-buy.

Keep the helpful carve-outs in mind

Reading past the premium label should never push you away from things that genuinely help. Fluoride toothpaste with a simpler ingredient list is a perfectly good choice — there's no need to drop fluoride. With sunscreen, mineral options are widely available, but the most important thing is to keep using sunscreen at all.

And one common trap: a pricey "BPA-free" plastic isn't automatically a simpler choice, since BPS and BPF are common substitutes with similar mechanisms. Where you can, glass or stainless steel sidesteps the question entirely.
