Introducing the Shopping List: calmer, lower-exposure shopping
A calm, practical checklist that turns “I should really swap that” into something you can actually do on your next shop.
What the Shopping List is
The Shopping List is a simple, tickable checklist built into the Micro Detox app. It gathers the most useful everyday swaps into one place and sorts them by where you would actually find them — personal care, cleaning and laundry, kitchen and food storage, baby and kids, and more.
There are no scores, no grades, and nothing to buy from us. Each line simply names the item and what to look for instead — for example, “Hand soap — a fragrance-free liquid” — so you can recognise a lower-exposure option on the shelf.
How to use it in the aisle
Open Swaps → Shopping List, browse by category, and tick the things you want to keep an eye out for. Your ticks are saved on your device, so the list is ready next time you shop.
- Browse by category, or search to jump straight to an item.
- Tap any item to see why it is there — always framed as reducing avoidable exposure, never as a health promise.
- Tick what is relevant to your home; untick anything that does not apply.
- Use the copy button to send just your ticked items to your notes or a message — plain text, nothing else.
You do not need to change everything at once. The list is there to make one or two swaps feel obvious — then you can come back whenever you are ready for the next.
Why a list helps
Most exposure-reduction advice is easy to agree with and hard to remember at the exact moment it matters — standing in front of a shelf with a toddler in the trolley. A short, familiar list moves the decision out of your head and onto something you can glance at.
It is deliberately low-pressure. Swapping is about choosing a simpler option when it is convenient, not about labelling anything you already own as a problem.
Your one small step
Open the Shopping List, pick three swaps that fit your routine, and tick them. That is the whole task — three things to look for, nothing more.
Common questions
Does the Shopping List track or score me?
No. Micro Detox never shows exposure scores or health scores. The list only remembers which items you have ticked, stored locally on your device.
Do I need an account?
No account, no sign-in, and no data leaves your device. You can use the whole list free in your browser or in the app.
Where do the swaps come from?
They are drawn from the same evidence-informed Swaps library in the app, which favours simpler materials like glass and stainless steel and fragrance-free options where practical.
